It took centuries to come to the evolution that we are today and one Fire that pushed Humanity 1000 years back. They say Earth is around 4.5 billion years old and you won’t believe that humans are merely 200,000 years old. Around 200,000 years ago when first human walked on the face of earth and when he rubbed two stones to generate that spark which we called fire today and since then Humans have never looked back . In the past three decades we have achieved exponential growth, all thanks to Internet. The first great discovery of humans was fire and it is ironical that it was the same Fire that pushed Humanity 1000 years back.
If you take a walk and look around you and see tall buildings, fast cars ,cell phones and computers and all these great human designs have one thing in common which is Geometry. Euclid was a Greek Mathematician who is also known as the founder of Geometry. Euclid wrote 13 books called as The Elements and which covered all aspects and theories of Geometry. It is said The Elements is the second most read book in the world after Bible. Euclid wrote all this in a place called Library of Alexandria.
Library of Alexandria
It is said that Library of Alexandria was built in 288 B.C. on the banks of Mediterranean sea. It is also said that the library was a research centre for many scholars. Library of Alexandria had knowledge that was at least 1000 years ahead of its time. Eratosthenes was the chief librarian at the Library of Alexandria. We spent millions of dollars to launch so many satellites which are orbiting the surface of the Earth to know the circumference of the Earth. Eratosthenes was the first person to calculate the circumference of Earth by using Mathematics and geography in 230 B.C. He said that circumference of Earth is 40,000 Kms. We spent a lot of money and after 2000 years concluded that circumference of Earth is 40,075 Kms which is nearly same that is the magnitude of knowledge that was at the Library of Alexandria.
Library of Alexandria contained around 40,000 to 400,000 scrolls of great Knowledge, But we only know the tip of this iceberg of Knowledge. Library of Alexandria was burnt down and it is one of the worst loss of Humanity. People believe that if this library was never burnt down then we would have been 1000 years ahead of what we are right now. This great temple of knowledge was burnt down accidentally, Yes you heard it right and it was none other than Julius Caesar. In an attempt to capture the Greek port he tried to burn the Greek ships and the fire spread to the Great Library and all the knowledge was destroyed.
Library of Alexandria had knowledge about every thing and we could only imagine if that Fire would never have taken place what all we could have done with that and surely it was one Fire that pushed Humanity 1000 years back.
