It was a virtual quater final in mohali. The stadium was packed and the stage was set for something exceptional and extraordinary. The best team in the world has still not reflected their best game. After some jitters Australia scored 160 runs which looked a good score as the ball was just holding up.
It was time for the Indian chase and shikhar Dhawan and Rohit looked good till Dhawan was hold out trying to pull a shot and soon Rohit was also gone and India were reduced to 2 wickets with less than 40 on the board. Suresh raina failed to the short delivery again and Indian was reduced to 49/3.
But as the saying goes that when going gets tough then the tough gets going and Yuvraj and Kohli made a good partnership but Yuvraj got out to a brilliant catch by Shane Watson.
It was now down to Dhoni and Kohli to take india into the semifinals. India needed 59 of 30 balls. Dhoni and Kohli challenged Usain bolt in running and converted singles into doubles. It was down to last 18 balls and 39 runs needed and what happened next was just greatness and magic. Kohli made 19 and 16 in two consecutive overs and it was reduced to 4 runs of 6 balls and which Dhoni completed by hitting a four and India defeated Australia by 6 wickets to book a place in the semis against West indies on thrusday.
