ICC which is the International cricket council started with the twenty over format world championship in 2007. T20 World cup history starts with the year 2007 when the Inaugural World cup was held in South Africa. All the cricket pandits opposed the idea of shorter format of cricket as it will kill the test Cricket . T20 format turned out to be good for the future of cricket as it evolved the game and after that even Test cricket gave more results. ICC decided that T20 World Cup will be held every two years. The first T20 world cup was won by India in South Africa and here is the T20 World Cup History.

T20 World Cup 2007:

  • The first T20 world cup was held in South Africa.
  • 12 Teams participated in this event and they were divided in four groups.
  • Indian Team was led by M.S. Dhoni.
  • In this world cup Yuvraj Singh Made history by hitting 6 sixes in 6 balls of Stuart broad.
  • India Won the world cup by defeating Pakistan by 5 runs.
  • Yuvraj made one more world record of fastest fifty which was of just 12 balls.
  • Irfan Pathan was the Man of the Match in the final match.
  • Shahid Afridi was the man of the Series.

  • Like 2007 World Cup 12 teams Participated which were divided in 4 groups.
